"Go the Distance"

Great! I can finally stop using those cheesy titles!

Just got back from our annual Family Church Camp yesterday. The picture above is our camp manual, the same design in used in our camp T-shirts. The location is at Villa Dominic, in Genting View Resort.

Anyway, we began on the first day by unpacking:

(It's anyone's guess why we were all waiting at the carpark...)

That's the main hall, filled with happy, jovial people...

Those are all the guys' dorms. As you can see in the last pic, my dad is kinda wierded out by all the pink...

Back to the main hall for some praise and worship...

After that was the Intro Talk, followed by Devotion, and the all too familiar tradition of church supper... (No pics here... sorry)

And then, rise and shine for the 2nd day!
Started off with Quiet Time, then headed down to Breakfast.
Later we went down for more praise and worship, and for the first Talk of the camp:

That's Mike Constantine, the speaker for our camp. His wife (Not in picture) is Diane Constantine...

After Talks, we headed out to Gohtong Jaya for lunch:

Later, we went back to the villa for drama practice. After that, while "the youths grew faint, and the young men utterly fell", I went for a walk with Uncle Weng Kee and Jackie around Genting View Resort. Aunty Christina, Weng Kee's wife, joined us later. (though she was more jogging than walking...)

Later, we went back and washed up for dinner, praise and worship, and Drama Night!

Sorry, no pictures of Drama Night. Betsy's group, Mishael won the night, amidst loud cheers and laughs...

Day 3. Rise and shine, Quiet Time, breakfast, praise and worship, Talk (Topic : Boundaries) , group photo, and lunch.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention. Every time after lunch, the whole church will pilgrimage over to a restaurant up the road where they take liberties with the pride of Malaysian fruit, the durian...
Though, the most we had time for was their utterly perfect durian ice-cream...
"Hmm... the durian is strong in this one..." -Best Line during Drama Night...

After lunch, we did something rather unique to this camp. While the married couples had a Marriage Enrichment seminar with the camp speaker, the rest of use went on a single's day out...
... to the City of Entertainment!

We walked all the way to the First World hotel...





... and only had time for one ride. So we settled on the one that didn't require entry into the actual Theme Park...

After that, it was back to the skyway station...
... and back to the campsite.

Later, a few of us went and played football in the open area behind the bungalow. (Pass that incredibly long stairway up...) One time, the ball actually rolled down towards the bungalow, all the way towards the front. And I had to "go the distance" to retrieve it...

After that was dinner, followed once more by praise and worship and the last talk of the camp...

Topic : House of Healing

Like every camp, the last talk involved prayers and personal encounters at the end. This time, though, instead of the speaker and pastors praying over us, we all prayed for each other! And to top it off, most, if not all of us were impowered by the Spirit and received accurate pictures and items to pray for certain people! Man, talk about being a prophet for a night!

Devotion, the last supper (pun fully intended), and ends the final night of the camp...

On the last day, after Quiet Time, breakfast, and praise and worship, we had a time of sharing, where everyone shared about their thoughts and experiences throughout this camp. And from the looks of it, everyone enjoyed the camp, especially the "prophet for a night"...

Went up to Gohting Jaya for the final lunch, and after that, departed for home...

"Some call it crazy, we call it skill..."

And that ends HOF's Family Church Camp for the year 2009. As life goes on, may God empower us with the strength and guidance to Go the Distance for the glory of His name...
