"Trial by Warm Weather"

Reached school. Day begins. Assembly as usual, with the exception that I kick started a programme for the MUET panel. (Another one of those English language on Tues & Thurs thingys...)

Then the tension mounts after assembly, when that Dato from YP Titiwangsa came to give his annual "Study Hard" talk. Right after he was done, hell broke loose when the powers that be told the students to wait at the assembly ground for the next half-an-hour because the Education Minister was going to give another talk broadcast-ed live on TV. I spent that half-an-hour assisting teachers (who in general did not know of this plan at all) in dealing with PPU boys with long hair. Then again, hell broke loose is a bit of an exaggeration. Students were relatively okay. Until the heat started building up...

Back to the TV thing. If you're an ex-Cochranean, you'd probably already guessed correctly that the only TV in the school with public channels and viewable by students is the one measly one hanging from that corner in the school canteen. So the powers-that-be predictably moved everyone to the canteen. Needless to say, nobody could care less about what that dude had to say.

The breather came after recess when everybody had gone back to class, which was around ten. Three quarters of an hour later, the alarm siren sounded. Everybody knows what that means. The Japanese are coming!

*Ahem* Sorry... Bad joke... Anyway, yeah, fire drill. Though, for the first time in all of known Cochranean history (meaning the 7 years that I know), we actually managed to beat the time limit, achieving a 4-minute evacuation out of the 5 mins limitation. This was followed by the prerequisite basking under the hot sun (also first time in "known Cochranean history" that so many umbrellas came out - I used my blazer instead...) and the "How to put out a small fire" demonstration (Whataya know, the school assembly ground is much more fire resistant than grass)...

Second breather of the day. By the way, due to Yellow House sports practice today, the PPU afternoon periods were pushed forward. Meaning no lunch, but those not in Yellow House get to go home early... Anyway, it was the much awaited colloquium presentations. The first four presentations today were... underwhelming... Though that's probably because I like to hold everyone to such a high standard...

Well, that's the record for today. Happy Hokkien Chinese New Year to those celebrating. Until next time.
