"Sandy Bay"

Gone South for the summer. Actually it was more like just 3 days, and it's still kinda a whiles away to summer. April 30th to May 1st.

It also marks the debut of my new iPad as my new default camera, with brand new iSight camera and Retina display.

First stop: Universal Studios Singapore

The Waterworld show.

Jurrasic Park

Entrance to the Mummy Indoor Coaster, which was interestingly quite a thrilling ride...

The Battlestar Galactica Dueling Coaster. One, or rather, two of the better coasters I've ever been on.

And Universal's big feature for the past few years. It definitely lives up to the hype.

Sands approach

Sands is strongly water-themed, as shown in much of the architecture and decor, besides the obvious fact that the hotel itself looks like a ship at sea.

Another of our stops down in the Sunny City: The National Science Centre

It may not be on a hill, and yet the outside of their Science Centre already looks much more fun than that big ugly green dome down in Mont Kiara.

Apparently dry ice spins when dumped into a body of water. Who knew.

They have a Jacob's Ladder (rising electric arc across two metal poles)! They have a Jacob's Ladder!

And would'ya believe it, they actually have a Tesla Coil! In fact it's the only one in South-East Asia! 

Betcha' if that big ugly green dome down in Mont Kiara had even one of these contraptions that those two times I went back in high school wouldn't have felt so let down.

Oh, and there was one part under a UV lamp where we discovered that we each had a florescent item on our persons: Mom's bag, and Dad's, Jon's and my shirts.

Who knew?

And next, the attraction to head to for plentiful photo-ops, aside from Marina Bay Sands itself: The Singapore Flyer

Not your average ferris wheel.

That's part of the Marina Bay F1 circuit down there.

Oh, and under the Flyer, there was this place where for a tidy sum, one can drive either a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder or Ferrari F430 Spyder for either 15 minutes on the F1 circuit, or 30 mins on the circuit and on the nearest freeway.

Alas, we didn't have that kind of money left, so we settled for a picture with the cars. For free.

Back to Marina Bay:

And that's that of our trip down to the Sunny City. Next time we go back, we are so driving those cool cars.

Oh, and in KLIA, we found a toy shop where we picked up these, and important to note, is that at the time, they were not yet available in either KL or Singapore for some reason:

That leaves just the other half of the Avengers to collect.

Fun fact: Throughout our whole stay, the only food we had was at Malaysian-style restaurants. Decent, but can't quite beat the originals over here.
